We are very excited to invite you to apply to compete in the LSE Featherstone LGBT Moot, running for the second year now, which is dedicated to the consideration of areas of sexual orientation and gender identity law. The competition will take place 3rd - 4th March 2017 at the LSE.
Like last year, City will be entering 2 teams into this competition and we'd like to invite those of you who are passionate about these issues and keen to moot competitively on them to tackle the selection question we've set out below.
LSE have allowed us to register teams without specifying members, but we will need to do this shortly after the registration period finishes. We'd like submissions in by Wednesday 25th Jan please. Just email Emily by 4pm that afternoon.
Please submit no more than 1 side of A4 on the following question - ensuring you footnote (using OSCOLA) any sources you rely upon.
What is the legal significance of the decision in HJ and HT v Secretary of State for the Home Department UKSC 31? What are the legal challenges that this gave rise to for the meaning of 'persecution'?
There is no set format for this submission. Please add your full name, the course you are attending and please confirm your availability for both days of the moot.
If you have any queries in relation to the question, please get in touch with my colleagues Dr Grietje Baars and Flora Renz, anything re the moot itself should come to Emily Allbon.
