Senior Moot Semi-Finals Announcement

SEMI-FINALS - ANNOUNCEMENT

25 January 2019

Dear Moot Entrants,

Congratulations on being selected to go through to the semi-finals and thank-you for all the hard work that you have put into the competition so far.  The details of your moot are below. You can contact your fellow team-members and opponents via their City email addresses.  Professors Sime and Hungerford-Welch have kindly agreed to judge all the semi-final rounds.  Please send the exchange documents via their City email addresses.

The rules are attached below.  Please note, in particular, rules 7 – 11, in relation to exchange of documents and the submission period (there is a single date for all documents to be exchanged and emailed to both judges – this is the same for everyone, regardless of the date of your moot).

The final round will be held at 5 pm on Thursday, 9 May at the Supreme Court.  It will be judged by The Rt Hon Lord Gill (Lord President and Lord Justice General of Scotland (retired 2015) and Panel Member of the UK Supreme Court (retired 2017)) and The Hon Sir Stephen Silber (Judge of the High Court of England and Wales (Queen’s Bench Division) 1999 – 2014 (authorised to sit in the High Court and Court of Appeal since retirement)).  Sir Stephen Silber kindly drafted the moot problem.

One person from each semi-final round will be selected to go through to the final.  The moot will last no longer than one hour and arrangements can be made via the Gray’s Inn Place office to re-arrange classes in the event of the timing of the moot coinciding with any other events in your law school timetables.

I do not have a copy of the timetable for the individual moots at present as it is being drafted – I will make this available within the next few days.  All four semi-finals will take place during the week commencing 11 February 2019.

I take account of date preferences (if possible) where I have been advised of such.

Best wishes,

Lynne
